Close Reading
Response to a FILM text
Response to ONE other text studied in class (please remind students
that they must not use an independently
read/viewed text for these responses. They
cannot use a text from Wide Reading!)

I include a copy of the instruction for yours (and their)
information.
They need to write in black or blue biro.
They need at least two refill sheets to answer the response to text
section.
They have 105 minutes out of the scheduled 120 minutes (the extra is
for administration)

RESPONSE TO TEXTS TOPICS

INSTRUCTIONS:
You will write about TWO texts you have studied in class. One must be
on your film
Choose ONE from any of the following categories:
● Novel
● Play
● Non-fiction
● 2 short stories OR 1 short story and 1 poem
● 2 poems OR 1 short story and 1 poem
AND Complete ONE on:
● Film

Choose ONE question for each text chosen. Write at least 150 words on
your own refill.
You should spend about half an hour on each answer.
You can use the same question for each answer on a different category
if you want to do so. Head up each page with your name, the title of the
text(s) you are writing about and the question number. Support each part
of your answer with specific details or quotations from the text.
